How
does it work?
Using traditional Internet access methods, the text and graphics that
make up Web pages get sent from the server to you over congested lines.
Because of the large amount of data required to be sent, this process
can be painfully slow. SlipStream's technology compresses this data
and sends it over your existing dialup phone line low-bandwidth connection.
This compression process allows a smaller amount of data to be sent,
making the download time of your Web pages and your online experience
that much faster. As an added download time reducer, RocketDial stores
elements of the Web sites you visit frequently, eliminating the need
to re-download them every time you visit these sites so the more ofter
you visit a site, the faster it gets.
What
gets accelerated?
To achieve the fastest Web and email acceleration available, proprietary
lossless compression is applied to text, html, xml, javascript and
style sheets. Proprietary image compression is applied to gif images,
jpeg images and Flash content. RocketDial also accelerates email traffic
including attachments, and is compatible with any IMAP or POP3/SMTP
client, including Microsoft®Outlook Express and Netscape®
Mail and FTP.
What
dosent get accelerated?
RocketDial will not currently accelerate file downloads such as music
files, or streaming video or audio media Secure pages (https://),
such as Internet Banking and Payment pages - this ensures our customers
security as accelerating secure pages may allow viewing of users personal
data (do not trust an accelerated product that accelerates https pages!).
How
Fast is it?
RocketDial Accelerator is capable of accelerating
web pages by up to 19 times* normal speed depending on the type of
page and number of visits. Other Internet providers are advertising
similar Acceleration products to RocketDial as producing results of
up to 19x faster than normal Dial-Up. Web Spider has been tested against
these products and was proven to be equally as fast. We do, however,
believe that 19x faster is an unrealistic expectation in real use
situations. In our view each product tested did provide a viable alternative
to Broadband, were equally as fast, and did significantly increase
speeds over that of standard Dial-Up.
RocketDial is a subscription service that can be used with any ISP.
Image quality using RocketDial Accelerator is better than any other
accelerator. Due to it's advanced caching and compression technology,
the more times you visit a page, the faster it will load on the next
visit.
We even ask you to test our accelerator using ZdNet's Speed Test after
you have installed RocketDial to see the improvement in speed for
yourself. (Try the Speed Test with the accelerator enabled, and then
disabled to see the improvement. Refresh the page a few times to see
the improvements in speed).
